TEXTLINE’S DATA PRIVACY POLICY

TEXTLINE aims to balance the user’s privacy concerns with the need to monitor the site’s performance, protect against spam and other security risks and measure the impact of Google Ads. To achieve these objectives, TEXTLINE uses third-party cookies (see below for more details).

 

COOKIES

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. Cookies are used to maintain state information as you navigate the site or return later. Cookies are a text-based data format that cannot contain any executable code and are not a potential security risk.

First-party cookies are loaded by a site when you visit; normally they are deleted when quitting the browser (session cookies). Third-party cookies are loaded by an external service that the site is using, such as Google Analytics; they are normally persistent and track your use of the site (tracking cookies); they are not deleted automatically when you quit your browser.

 

What does TEXTLINE use cookies for?

The TEXTLINE website uses:

  • session cookies to ensure that the site runs correctly; they are not permanent
  • Google Analytics cookies to monitor the site’s performance and the performance of Google Ads. Google Analytics collects your Internet protocol (IP) address, browser type, pages visited, operating system, date & time stamp, and clickstream data. The analysis of your surfing behavior is anonymous and your surfing behavior can not be traced back to you. Data storage and analysis is based on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Article 6 (1f).
  • Google reCAPTCHA cookies to increase security. For analysis, reCAPTCHA collects the IP address, visitor's time spent on the website and user-mouse movements. Data storage and analysis is based on GDPR Article 6 (1a).

 

Managing cookies

You can use your browser privacy preferences to manage acceptance and deletion of cookies. Incognito/private browser mode allows you to browse the web without recording webpages and files in your browser or account history. Cookies are deleted after you have closed all incognito/private windows; bookmarks and settings are stored until you delete them.

   To prevent your browser from automatically participating in Google Analytics, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (available for Microsoft Internet Explorer 11, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Opera).

 

DATA PROCESSING

What information does TEXTLINE collect?

TEXTLINE only uses anonymous Google Analytics data to measure site performance and the performance of Google Ads. TEXTLINE does not collect sensitive personal information.

 

Does TEXTLINE share your data?

TEXTLINE does not share your data with any other organization.

 

Does TEXTLINE link to other websites or third-party content?

TEXTLINE does not link to other websites or use third-party content.

 

SECURITY

Is www.textline.net encrypted?

The TEXTLINE site uses SSL encryption (“https” and a padlock-icon display in the browser bar) to enhance security and protect the transmission of sensitive content.

 

Are emails to TEXTLINE secure?

Data transmission via internet, including emails, may have security gaps. A complete protection of such data is not possible despite TEXTLINE making all reasonable security precautions.

 

Hosting and content-delivery networks (CDN)

The TEXTLINE website is hosted by HostEurope, an external service provider (hoster). Personal information (IP addresses, contact requests, meta & communication data, contract data, contact details, names and web pages accessed) collected on this website is processed and stored on the hoster’s server, conforming to GDPR Article 6 (1b and 1f). The hoster will only process your data as far as necessary to fulfill its performance obligations and to follow our instructions with respect to such data.

Your data-protection rights

You have the right to:

  • know the origin, recipient and purpose of your stored personal data
  • request the correction or deletion of such data
  • appeal to the supervisory authority
  • restrict processing of your personal data in certain circumstances

 

Revoking consent to data processing

Many data processing operations are only possible with your consent. You can revoke any given consent at any time by sending an email to TEXTLINE (GDPR Article 21). The legality of any data processing carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation. TEXTLINE will not use data for direct mailing or email marketing.

 

Your right of appeal

In the event of any GDPR Article 21 violations, you have a right of appeal to the relevant supervisory authority in the member state of your habitual residence, your place of work or the place of the alleged infringement. The right to complain is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedies.

 

Your right to data portability

You have the right to access your data that we process (on the basis of your consent or in fulfillment of a contract or to a third party) in a standard digital format.
